ROOF & FAÇADE’s “Sustainability” Message Contributes to Another Good Year Print E-mail

By all reckoning, 2009 was a very successful year for the Roof & Façade Group. Despite the gloom of recession, the Group achieved remarkable growth on several fronts.  Compared to FY2008, the Group's revenues in FY2009 doubled and new customers tripled. The Group achieved significant growth with their new business partners, improved relationships with various government departments in the region and expanded its operations in Malaysia and India.

Awareness of 'Roof & Façade' and 'Infrastructure Asia' brands have grown substantially and the readership community continues to appreciate the valuable contents featured in the various publications and the consistent promotion of the "sustainability" message, through the Group's print, online and events platforms.  While subscriptions to the magazines have picked up, the Group has launched new Digital products and services, including the on-line portal 'Roof & Facade Asia - Guide' and the 'e-Book'.

The Group has ambitious plans to consolidate its growth in FY2010 through new and valuable services to the community of professionals in the Building, Construction and Infrastructure Industry while continuing its emphasis on "Sustainable Development".

Zaha Hadid has been announced as the 2009 Laureate for Architecture at the Praemium Imperiale Awards for art in Japan. The prestigious award is a global prize awarded by the Japanese Art Association and has become a mark of the highest international distinction for the arts.

Vietnam’s Construction Industry is Recovering Print E-mail

Recently, work on the 105.5 km Hanoi-Hai Phong highway had started.
The VND22 trillion (US$1.25 billion) project will include nine major bridges, 21 medium-sized bridges, and 22 fly-overs. The first phase of the highway will be opened to traffic by 2012.


The government plans to begin work on an expressway from Noi Bai to Lao Cai next April. Land acquisition for the 245km, VND20 trillion ($1.14 billion) expressway is nearly complete.


As for the south, work on the 51km HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay highway is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2009. It will cost VND15 trillion (US$ 858 million).

Also the minister of construction, Nguyen Tran Nam had said that his ministry plans to spend VND6 trillion (US$ 342.2million) to build 24,000 low-income apartments in 2009-10.
